Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen.
Jeyam Educational Trust (Regd. No. 588/2009) was founded in 2009 in Devakottai.
Mr. C.Michael Sahaya Anbu, the founder of Jeyam Educational Trust, Devakottai. It is a non-profit organization committed towards the quality education to young generation living in villages. The organization aims to provide four types of services: - (a) Polytechnic college (b) Conducting free government skill development courses (c) Health care programs for rural peoples.(d) UPSC,TNPSC,TN TET & TRB coaching centre. Currently JET is running polytechnic colleges around 500 students are learning Diploma courses. Many students getting job opportunities after completing their diploma education program and have gotten jobs in reputed industries....
The chief objective of the Trust is to set up and develop educational infrastructure that offers quality education at primary, secondary, higher and tertiary levels that confirms to global standards by establishing colleges without profit motive.
The Trust aims at initiating and promoting educational activities related to career and employment development like vocational training, skill based training, preparation for group exams, screening or competitive tests for both public and private services conducted by state and national levels.
The Trust also aims to promote and foster education among socially backward and economically poor stratum of the society by conferring scholarship to poor and deserving students in the form of financial grants to pay their tuition fees and other educational expenses.
To realize the above objectives, as a first step, the Trust instituted St Xaviers polytechnic college, Devakottai in 2010 with an intake of 275 students and 40 teaching and non teaching staff in a 6 acre campus amid lush green fields in a completely rural environment in Mullikkundu village in Sivaganga district. By 2010, the number of students studying at the college has risen to 750 and the Trust has already created employment directly to over 300 and indirectly to more than 245 persons. To cater to the rising educational demands of the New Capital Region the Trust proposes to establish a college with International standards offering best quality education complete with comprehensive personality development in the region.
